Deval Patrick and Whitebread Massachusetts

After watching highlights of the gubenatorial debate, I'm left with the feeling that it's really a 2-man race at this point. Unfortunate perspiration notwithstanding, Deval Patrick made a strong case for his cause.

Chris Gabrielli was very, strong, too.

Tom Reilly just seemed combative.... but as current Attorney General of the Commonwealth, perhaps that's his charming side and I just didn't know it.

Deval and Chris have both assured me (personally, on television) that they will work hard for change in my state.

Questions:
1. Is Whitebread Massachusetts ready for an African-American Governor? Why not! He's got to be better than the Mormon (Romney) or the Moron (Swift, Celucci, Weld... take your pick).

2. What was WITH the perspiration thing with Deval? It made me think of that scene from Broadcast News with Albert Brooks when given his first shot at anchoring....

3. Why is it gubernatorial? While we've had our share of gubers as governors, I still don't understand the origin of that word.

Having Deval's Advocates call Massachusetts "whitebread" won't help his cause, now will it?
