I have just finished reading a transcript of Ronald Dumsfeld's speech to the American Legion in Salt Lake City. I'm left with some rhetorical questions....
1. How dare this administration compare Iraq to WWII? I am mystified to find a connection, comparison or parallel. But then I remember that these are the same people who led us to war with promises of WMD in Iraq that they knew were not there.
2. Why am I reminded of a British leader of that period (WWII) when I read or hear his words? When I hear any of the Axis of Evil (Bush, Rumsfeld and Rice) speak on the subject with such certainty... knowing what the future will hold. Knowing how other world leaders will react. And worst of all, knowing that America is the strongest, most powerful country on the planet. Why do I think back to Neville Chamberlain when I hear this? Because the idiotic, blind belief that we are the biggest, the most powerful and, therefore, above any sort of comeuppance from rogue nations.... well, it's just what Neville said to his pals over pints back in '37 about Hitler. Sadly, we have no Churchill waiting in the wings to speak up with a clear, succinct and intelligent voice...
Have the blitz and 9/11 have taught us nothing?

These are the same war pigs who have compared liberals to communists, and called Democrats on the carpet for cowardice and anti-Americanism. Both these tactics worked to get them into their positions of power. I would expect them to use the same dirty, dishonest arguments in the future because they work.
